By Our Correspondent,Hile, Sept. 21: A charging station for electric vehicles came into operation for the first time of eastern hill in Dhankuta.

A local businessman Milan Khadka constructed the charging station in Sukepokhari of Dhankuta Municipality-1 with the investment of around Rs. 1.7 million.

Nepal Electricity Authority has provided free transformers.

Khadka said that the charging point was provided by CG Group.

He said that it is a fast-charging station with a capacity of 30 kilowatts.

In this station, one vehicle can be charged at a time and it will be fully charged in 40 minutes.

He said that the charging station has been brought into operation with private investment as electric vehicles have started coming even in the hilly areas.

It is said that this is the first charging station in the eastern hill region of the country.

Even though the NEA and private sector constructed and operated the charging station in the Tarai and cities, charging stations could not be established and brought into operation in the hilly districts of the eastern hills.

This charging station was inaugurated by State Assembly members, Dhankuta Indramani Parajuli and Niran Rai.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Parajuli said that only if electricity vehicles can be operated everywhere, the country's trade deficit would be reduced and more electricity would be consumed in Nepal itself.
