By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, Sept. 14:Hindus across the country and beyond are celebrating the Father’s Day on Thursday.
Children observe the Father’s Day, which falls on the day of Kuse Aunsi during the Nepali month of Bhadra, by showing reverence to their fathers, as well as by offering sweets, gifts and delicious foods.
Those who have lost their fathers visit Gokarneshwor Municipality in Kathmandu where they bathe in the holy Bagmati River and pray for the eternal peace of their fathers’ soul.
People visit the Gokarna Mahadev temple, in the municipality, and other sacred places to bath and make offering in honour of their deceased father to mark the day. Devotees also make donations in memory of their dead fathers.
They also bring holy Kush, a grass considered a symbol of purity, into their houses on this day.
