By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Aug. 12: Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat has said that the concept of the Women’s Industrial Park has progressed.
Addressing a programme organised by the South Asian Women’s Forum on Friday, Minister Dr. Mahat said, “The concept of Women’s Industrial Park has moved forward, no one can stop it now.”
“It sounds like normal, but later people will realise that this is a far-reaching concept. An important initiation has been started, it should be implemented. Its network should be expanded throughout the country,” he said.
Stating that a large number of young people in Nepal go abroad as migrant workers, he said more men than women fly abroad. ‘Therefore, if anyone can provide stability here, only women can provide it,” Minister Dr. Mahat said, adding that the role of women in the rural and modern economy was increasing.
The state should promote it with priority, he said.
All over the country, women are participating in small businesses, he said. “Businessmen are exporting various items produced at home by women,” he said, adding that the women were also getting connected to IT sector.
Mahat said, “There is a huge potential in agriculture now. The digital world has also given us an opportunity. Marketing can be done easily. The products produced by women entrepreneurs should be marketed by making full use of the technology.”
He said that the products produced on a small scale should be collected and supplied to the consumers. Minister Dr. Mahat said that if the South Asian Women’s Forum developed a good network, it could work well.
