By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, July 19: Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Nepal Abdulla Al Shamsi has paid a courtesy call on Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) and Minister for Defence Purna Bahadur Khadka.
According to Spokesperson and Joint Secretary for the Ministry Prakash Paudel, DPM Khadka recalled the good and close relationship between Nepal and the UAE and expressed the view that both countries, which are members of the United Nations and advocates of non-aligned foreign policy, share common views on global issues.
Also, DPM Khadka congratulated the UAE government for its remarkable progress and prosperity made in health, education, space technology, energy, artificial intelligence, innovation and other fields.
Similarly, Defence Minister Khadka expressed his best wishes for the United Arab Emirates' United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 28) to be held in Dubai from November 30 to December 12, 2023.
He also wished success for the 2023 Dubai Air Show, which is going to be held on 13-17 November 2023.
On the occasion, the Defence Minister expressed his belief that there is a lot of potential for cooperation between the two countries in the fields of tourism, renewable energy and human resource development, and expressed his gratitude for the UAE for providing a large number of jobs to Nepali citizens.
Ambassador Shamsi handed over the invitation letter sent by Prince Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid AI Maktoum for the participation of DPM Khadka in the 2023 Dubai Air Show and also requested for his participation.
What’s more, the Ambassador pointed out that there is a good relationship between the two countries and emphasised that as entrepreneurs in the UAE are keen to invest in Nepal, necessary bilateral agreement work should be carried out quickly.
He also pointed out that there is a good relationship between the armies of the two countries and also expressed the opinion that there is a possibility of cooperation in the fields of training and capacity development.
During the meeting, officials including the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were present.
