By Our Correspondent,Charikot, July 4: The Water Resources and Irrigation Division Office, Dolakha, has accelerated the lift irrigation projects to provide irrigation facilities to arable land round the year.
According to the office, the plan of irrigation through lifting techniques has been forwarded with the aim that the land of the village should not remain barren due to lack of sufficient water for irrigation.
Kirne lifting irrigation project has been constructed in Tamakoshi Rural Municipality-5, Sahare of the district with an investment of Rs. 6 million.
Yam Prasad Subedi, Chairman of Kirne Lifting Irrigation Project, said that the lifting irrigation project, which was started last year at a cost of Rs. 2.5 million, will be completed in the next fiscal year.
He said that after the work has not been completed in this year's budget, a budget of Rs. 2 million has been allocated for the next fiscal year and there is a plan to complete the work from that budget.
Subedi said that water lifting from 800 metres below of Tamakoshi River will provide irrigation facilities to about 400 ropanies of agricultural land of Sahare.
With the construction of a lift project for irrigation, the locals are excited as they can cultivate even the barren land. Due to lack of sufficient water for irrigation, the land was barren.
Local farmer Karna Prasad Phuyal said, "The barren land will be green from next year.
After sufficient water will be available, the enthusiasm to work will increase among the farmers.”Similarly, the construction of a lift irrigation scheme has been started at Charnawati of Bhimeshwor Municiplaity-5.
Puskar Basnet, chairman of the project construction consumer committee, said that the construction of the tank of the project, which is estimated to cost Rs. 60 million, has been completed.
Prakash Bhattarai, engineer of the office, said that the water from the river and canal would be lifted to the tank construction site and released to the farmers' fields. He said that releasing water collected in tanks is more effective than releasing it directly to the farmers' land.
Chief of Water Resources and Irrigation Division Office, Dolakha Nirmal Dahal said that the main objective of the lift irrigation scheme is to raise the standard of living of farmers by means of agriculture.
According to him, it will be easy to irrigate farms round the year through the local irrigation project. According to him, the lift irrigation project is being constructed by the consumer committee.
Dahal said that the work of lift irrigation schemes was going on in different places of Baiteshwor and Tamakoshi Rural Municipalities of the district.
