By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, June 27: Suryabinayak Municipality of Bhaktapur has presented a budget of Rs. 2.1 billion for the next fiscal year 2023/24.
Deputy Mayor of the municipality Sarita Timalsina Bhattarai presented the budget in the municipal assembly on Sunday.
The municipality has allocated a budget of Rs. 1.11 billion for capital expenditure and Rs. 985 million for recurrent expenditure.
The municipality has estimated that Rs. 1.1 billion will be managed from the internal resources of the municipality, Rs. 20 million from the District Coordination Committee, Rs. 844.2 million from the federal government and Rs. 133.8 million from the Bagmati Province government.
The municipality has given priority to the capital formation, commercialisation of agriculture and infrastructure development.
Similarly, the Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City has unveiled a budget of Rs. 1.93 billion for the next fiscal year 2023/24.
Deputy Mayor of the Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City Kandakala Kumari Rana presented the budget in the municipal assembly on Sunday.
The sub-metropolitan city has allocated the budget of Rs. 1.17 billion under the heading of recurrent expenditure and Rs. 786 million has been set aside for the capital expenditure.
The city is projected to receive Rs. 354 million from internal revenue, Rs. 469 million from revenue sharing, Rs. 925 million from the inter-governmental financial transfer of the federal government and Rs. 53 million from the inter-governmental financial transfer of the provincial government.
15 municipalities of Jhapa present budget of Rs. 13.66 billion
Our Birtamod correspondent reported that all 15 municipalities of Jhapa have unveiled budget for the fiscal year 2023/24 in their municipal assembly Sunday.
Among all municipalities, Damak Municipality has presented the highest budget of Rs. 1.84 billion while Haldibari Rural Municipality has presented the lowest budget of Rs. 477 million.
Similarly, the Kankai Municipality of the district has presented a budget of Rs. 678 million, and Shivasatakshi Municipality has released a budget of Rs. 1.21 billion for the fiscal year 2023/24.
Jhapa Rural Municipality has presented a budget of Rs. 499 million, Birtamod Municipality has made public the budget of Rs. 1.4 billion.
Arjundhara Municipality has presented a budget of Rs. 761 million for the next fiscal year, while Barhadashi Rural Municipality has announced a budget of Rs. 498 million.
For the fiscal year 2023/24, Mechinagar Municipality has unveiled the budget of Rs. 1.51 billion, Gaurigunj Rural Municipality has brought a budget of Rs. 529 million and Kamal Rural Municipality has presented the budget of 722 million.
Likewise, Bhadrapur Municipality presented the budget of Rs. 856 million and Kechankawal Rural Municipality has announced a budget of Rs. 630 million for the next financial year.
Budget of 10 municipalities of Tanahun amount Rs. 7.73 billion
Our Tanahun correspondent reported that all 10 municipalities of Tanahun have unveiled their budget for the next fiscal year 2023/24.
Four municipalities and six rural municipalities of the district have announced the budget giving priority to agriculture, health, education, tourism and social and economic development on Sunday.
An estimated budget of Rs. 7.73 billion has also been proposed for the implementation of the policies and programmes adopted by the municipalities of the district.
The largest budget has been presented by Vyas Municipality, while the lowest budget has been presented by Ghiring Rural Municipality.
The Vyas Municipality has proposed an estimated budget of Rs. 1.59 billion, Shuklagandaki Municipality has proposed a budget of Rs. 1.28 billion, Bhimad Municipality has proposed an estimated budget of Rs. 600 million and Bhanu Municipality has proposed a budget of Rs. 1.07 billion
Similarly, Devghat Rural Municipality has presented a budget of Rs. 506 million, Abukhaireni Rural Municipality of Rs. 630 million, Bandipur Rural Municipality of Rs. 498 million, Myagde Rural Municipality of Rs. 555 million and Ghiring Rural Municipality of Rs. 437 million.
The Rishing Rural Municipality has proposed an estimated budget of Rs. 552 million in the municipal assembly on Sunday.
10 municipalities of Syangja unveil budget, dispute in Biruwa Rural Municipality
In Syangja, which has 11 local levels, including five municipalities and six rural municipalities, only 10 municipalities have announced their budgets for the next fiscal year 2023/24, as per our correspondent in the district.
One municipality has not been able to bring the budget due to disputes between employees and people's representatives.
According to the Inter-Governmental Finance Management Act, local levels must bring a budget for the next fiscal year within Asar 10 (June 25). Municipalities of the district have presented their budget in the municipal assembly Sunday.
The Putlibazar Municipality has released a budget of Rs. 1.4 billion for the next fiscal year.
Out of the total budget, the municipality has allocated a budget of Rs. 945 million for recurrent expenditure and Rs. 456 million for capital expenditure.
The Waling Municipality, which is the main business centre of the district, has made public a budget of Rs. 1.08 billion. According to the municipality, Rs. 605 million has been set aside for recurrent expenditure and Rs. 473 million for capital expenditure.
Similarly, Galyang Municipality has made public a budget of Rs. 814.44 million. In the budget released by the municipality, Rs. 155 million has been allocated for recurrent expenditure, Rs. 362 million for social development, Rs. 89 million for economic development. It has allocated the budget of Rs. 150 million for capital expenditure.
Similarly, Chapakot Municipality has unveiled a budget of Rs. 656 million with the allocation of Rs. 420 million for recurrent expenditure and Rs. 236 million for capital expenditure.
Bhirkot Municipal made public a budget of Rs. 78.82 million on Friday.
Similarly, Andhikhola Rural Municipality has presented a budget of 62 million, Arjunchaupari Rural Municipality of Rs. 446.9 million, Kaligandaki Rural Municipality of Rs. 545.4 million for the next fiscal year.
Harinash Rural Municipality presented the budget of Rs. 430 million last Tuesday.
Similarly, Phedikhola Rural Municipality has made public the budget of Rs. 398 million. It has allocated Rs. 274.3 million for recurrent expenditure and Rs. 125 million for capital expenditure.
After protest in the meeting of the municipal assembly demanding the dismissal of the contract employees, the budget of the Biruwa Rural Municipality could not be presented.
The municipality said that the municipal assembly meeting was postponed due to lack of quorum.
The municipalities here have kept the road in first priority in the budget, while the budget for education, health and drinking water has been allocated.
