Marsyangdi hydropower station generates full power

blog

By Amar Raj Naharki,Tanahun, June 27: The electricity production of the 69-megawatt medium hydropower project located in Abukhaireni Rural Municipality-4 of Tanahun has begun to increase.

Badri Phuyal, Chief of the Marsyangdi Hydropower Station, stated that the flow of the Marsyangdi River has increased due to frequent rains and snowmelt. He mentioned, "With the increased water levels in the river, we are currently generating 69 megawatts of electricity at a rate of 23/23 megawatts."

The boost in production has aided the Nepal Electricity Authority in meeting the high demand. As temperatures rise during the summer season, the snow melts further, and heavy rainfall causes other tributaries of the river to swell.

According to the Station, in times of excessive flooding, two flat gates can be employed to regulate the flow and manage firewood extraction, allowing the station to operate at its maximum capacity.

The electricity generated by this station is distributed nationwide, from Bharatpur in Chitwan to the station in Kathmandu.

The power generation facility is located in Abukhaireni Rural Municipality-4.
