By Our Correspondent,Birtamode, June 26: Actor Uttam Pradhan has recently announced making a sequel to Darpan Chhayan, the hit movie of 2001.
Pradhan plans to create a sequel to this much-loved movie, aiming to captivate audiences once again with a fresh storyline and engaging performances.
Speaking at a press conference held in Kakarbhitta, Jhapa, on Friday, Pradhan shared his intention to revive the successful film of director Tulsi Ghimire.
He will be both the director and the producer of the film, he said.
Interestingly, Ghimire, the director of the original ‘Darpan Chhayan’, will be assisting and supporting Pradhan this time. Likewise, Dilip Rayamajhi and Niruta Singh will also be seen in the new film. Darpan Chhayan was the most popular film by actors Rayamajhi and Singh.
Pradhan also revealed that a new actor, Sunil Thapa, will be joining the film.
The film will be shot in Nepal and India, with half of it in Kathmandu, Nepal, and the other half in Sikkim, India.
Pradhan further added that the shooting will begin after the completion of the elections in Sikkim.
Having served as the chairman of the Sikkim Film Development Board for five years, Pradhan brings a wealth of experience to this project.
He has appeared in more than three dozen Nepali films in Nepal, including ‘Darpan Chhayan,’ ‘Lahana,’ ‘Saino,’ ‘Malai Maaf Garideu,’ and ‘Mitini.’
Pradhan expressed his gratitude to the film industry for the honours, respect, and financial stability it has provided him.
However, he acknowledged that he has not been able to contribute much to the Nepali film industry.
With the sequel to ‘Darpan Chhayan,’ he aims to give something back to the Nepali audience.
In another context, Pradhan also expressed his concerns about the controversial Hindi film ‘Adhipurush,’ stating that a false statement suggesting that Sita was born in India was a significant mistake.
He emphasised that such an inaccurate dialogue related to religion, history, and the country could cause considerable confusion.
