By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, June 21: Nepal and France have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance the former's aviation safety oversight system and develop adequate human resources. Pradeep Adhikari, Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, and Damien Cazé, Director General of Civil Aviation in France, signed the memorandum on behalf of their respective countries.
Tweeting via its official Twitter handle, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) informed that the MoU was signed in Paris, France on Monday.
The Authority shared a copy of the agreement too which states that technical cooperation arrangement, as the MoU has been called, shall be in force between CAAN and the Director General of Civil Aviation under the French Republic's Ministry for the Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion for four years.
Talking to The Rising Nepal, Jagannath Niroula, spokesperson for CAAN, informed that under the agreement, the French authorities would support training and capacity building of Nepal's aviation staff. For this, some personnel would come from France to Nepal to work with the Nepali officials.
The same day, Director General Adhikari met with Minister Delegate for Transport of France Clément Beaune.
Meanwhile, Nepal continues to remain on the European Union's aviation blacklist, meaning Nepali airlines are prohibited from flying over Europe's skies.
