By Our Correspondent,Hile, June 21: National flags of 22 countries, including Nepal, have been hoisted on the Flag Hill (Dhoje danda) in Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality-5, Dhankuta district, in an effort to attract domestic and foreign tourists. The flags, each costing Rs. 633,104 and about 20 feet in height, were hoisted there.
Ward chair of Ward No. 5 Khadga Bahadur Limbu said that Nepal Tourism Board funded Rs. 500,000, Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality Rs. 125,000 and Rs. 35,604 was collected from the public. He informed that in order make the spot distinctive and attractive compared to other tourist spots, the rural municipality had placed flags on the top of the hill.
The provincial government had already declared the rural municipality tourism local level of the province. Chairman Jitendra Rumladi said that they placed the flags to attract tourists, especially the foreign ones.
Located at an altitude of 2,000 metres in Mahabharat Hill, it is the second highest hill after Miklajunj. Earlier, a view tower was constructed here.
