Fiscal end's nearing speeds up road-related works in Bardibas

By Rabindra Upreti,Bardibas, June 8: Bardibas Municipality in Mahottari district has increased its speed to complete road-related works when the fiscal year is coming to an end.

New road tracks are being opened and gravel roads are being blacktopped across the municipality.

According to the Infrastructure Development Section of Bardibas Municipality, premix carpet is being laid in the rural roads with a five-metre-width and more than seven kilometres long.

"Several agreements have been signed at a cost of Rs. 74.5 million to upgrade and construct roads within the current fiscal year," said Shivesh Kumar Singh, an engineer at the section.

"The agreements with the contractors state that the works should be completed before the end of the fiscal year 2022/23. Despite the direction to complete the work at the earliest, we are inspecting the quality of the works as well," said Prahlad Kumar Chhetri, Mayor of Bardibas.

According to Jivan Raj Bhandari, a contractor awarded the blacktopping contract of 1.250-kilometre-long road from Bidhyut Chowk to Budha Kholsi in Ward No. 10 of Bardibas Municipality, the physical progress had reached 95 per cent.

Once the road is blacktopped, sick individuals, students and farmers will have an easier travel.

"Several pregnant women and many snakebite victims have died en-route to the health centres due to a poor roads. A quality road would be a great relief for us," said Tanka Maya Chaulagain, a 68-year-old local of Ward No. 10.

Similarly, the feeder road to tourism sites such as Tuteshwor and Maisthan from the East-West Highway, Gaushala Chowk-Ishwor Secondary School section, Hattilet Pokhari-Dhami Tole section and Pashupatinagar-Ward 9 Office section are also being blacktopped.

The road tracks are also being opened in the rural most part of the municipality including Ward Nos. 4, 5, 10 and 11. 

According to the respective ward offices, the road construction work is moving at a speedy pace in their respective areas.
