By Our Correspondent,Myagdi, May 17: Climbers have started reaching the summit of Mount Dhaulagiri, the seventh highest mountain in the world after waiting for nearly a month at the base camp for the weather to clear.

On Sunday, two Polish climbers, Bartek Ziemski and Oswald Rodrigo Pereira, successfully reached the top of the 8,167-metre peak at 7.30 am, according to Seven Summit Treks, the company that managed their expedition.

Thaneshwor Guragain, manager of Seven Summit Treks, said that this was the first climb on the 2023 Spring season.  "The weather has been clear for about a week. This has allowed mountaineers to reach the summit," he said. However, the conditions can change on a dime which has hindered the climbers, he added.

Mingma Sherpa, also associated with the company, informed that among the climbers was 83-year-old Spanish national Carlos Soria. This is his 13th attempt at the mountain. He has tried on 12 previous occasions to reach Dhaulagiri's summit but has not been successful. A total of 35 people have taken permission to try and climb the mountain.
