By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar. 28: On the occasion of Global Money Week-2023, Agricultural Development Bank Limited (ADBL) has conducted financial literacy programmes in different parts of the country.
According to the bank, during the Global Money Week from March 20 to 26, financial literacy programmes were conducted in various places, including Videha Municipality of Dhanusha, Pokhara and Jiri in Dolakha.
The Madhes Provincial Office of ADBL has conducted a day-long financial literacy programme at Shree Janata Model Technical Secondary School located in Videha Municipality-6, Tinkauriya, Dhanusha, while the provincial office Bagmati has organised a one-day financial literacy programme at Shree Saraswoti Community School of Jiri in Dolakha.
Financial literacy programme organised by the bank in Videha Municipality-6 of Dhanusha was attended by students, teachers, parents, members of farmers' groups, women of mothers' groups and others, according to information officer of Madhes Provincial Office of ADBL Jayaram Sharma.
Pratap Subedi, deputy general manager of the ADBL, imparted the training in the programme organsised in Dhanusha in which about 75 people participated.
According to the bank, the director of Agricultural Development Bank, Madhes Province Office Nabin Kumar Pakhrin, principal of the school Pawan Kumar Mandal, bank's Khajuri branch manager Shri Ram Mahaseth and journalists were also present.
During the programme, DGM Subedi said that every person should maintain discipline in financial transactions in order to prevent its negative impact on Nepal in the context of the ongoing global economic recession.
He suggested that everyone involved in economic activities, from housewives to home owners, should develop the habit of saving and instead of increasing consumption of luxury goods, capital should be mobilised in the productive sector.
Stating that the ADBL is providing complete banking services by expanding its branches to rural areas as well, Subedi said that every person will have various benefits such as saving and transparency in financial transactions when doing financial transactions through banking channel.
During the training, Subedi made a presentation about the bank's various investment products, debit cards, credit cards and digital banking facilities.
With the slogan 'Plan your money, plant your future', 'Global Money Week-2023' has started in the country from March 20.
The Global Money Week is a campaign conducted globally to raise awareness about the importance of financial education among teenagers and young adults.
In conjunction with the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), this campaign has been conducted in more than 170 countries every year since 2012.
