By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar. 11: Church Boys United maintained its top place at the Martyr’s Memorial A Division League following its 1-0 victory over Himalayan Sherpa Club at Dasarath Stadium on Friday. A lone goal from Ashish Chaudhary was enough for the debutant Church Boys to secure three back-to-back wins in the top-tier league.
Chaudhary found the net in the 20th minute. Taking control of the long pass by Erik Bista from the centre, Chaudhary slammed from inside the box to score. Church Boys leads the league standings with nine points. Jawalakhel and Satdobato Youth Club, who have six points in the table, could join Church Boys at the top provided they win in their Saturday matches.
Jawalakhel takes on Nepal APF Club and Satdobato meets Friends Club at Dasarath Stadium.
In the first match of the day, Three Star Club registered its first victory of the season by beating FC Khumaltar 2-0. Three Star lost its first match against APF FC by 2-0 and settled for a 3-3 draw against Friends Club in its second match.
Martins Ajayi starred in the win of Three Star with two goals. Ajayi broke the deadlock in the 54th minute and scored his second in the 83rd minute.
Three Star collected four points from three matches. With two defeats in a row, Khumaltar has three points.Debutant Khumaltar defeated Friends Club 1-0 in the first match but lost to leader Church Boys by 3-1 in the second match.
