Janakpur Mayor crowned with ‘Mahamurkha’ title

By Our Correspondent,Janakpurdham, Mar. 8: Mayor Manoj Kumar Shah of Janakpurdham Sub-metropolitan City was honoured with the title of 'Mahamurkha' at the two-day Fagu festival held in Janakpurdham on Tuesday.

Shah was felicitated with the Mahamurkha title by offering a garland of pointed gourd. Mithila Natyakala Parishad (MINAP) has been honouring 15 personalities who have contributed to various sectors during Fagu Purnima but this year only 13 people have been honoured. Popular journalist Rishi Dhamala was honoured with 'Patmurkha' title while Ratneshwor Lal Karna received the 'Dapaur Shankha''. 

Likewise, Hari Mandal, Baishak Nandan and Bibha Thakur were honoured with 'Gandhapasaraina' and Arun Lal Karna, Sanjaya Jha, Rekha Jha and Lal Bahadur Yadav were honoured with 'Khabsurata', Lotha Shankha', 'Mantutiya' and 'Harashankha' respectively. 

Likewise, Balaram Shah, Birendra Raman, Kiran Jha Rashmi and Dr. Sonu Kumar Shah have been honoured with 'Bajrasota', 'Shotachand', 'Tunmusari', 'Bajrakit' respectively. 

MINAP General Secretary Shailendra Mallik informed that they celebrated this year Fagu on Monday and 'Mahamurkha Conference' was organised on Tuesday at Janaki Temple.
