We should increase production to reduce trade deficit: DPM Shrestha

By Our Correspondent,Charikot, Mar. 4: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Narayan Kaji Shrestha Friday stressed the need for increasing production in order to reduce the widening trade deficit of Nepal.

He made this remark while inaugurating the nine-day Dolakha Festival organised by Dolakha Chamber of Commerce in Charikot, the district headquarters, on Friday.

He said that the present need of the country was to make the socio-economic activities vibrant.

DPM Shrestha said that Dolakha is an important district for the country from all aspects, and development of this district would  help in the economic development of the entire country.

He said that it was necessary to safeguard the constitution as efforts are being made to weaken the political achievements made through the constitution.

Stating that significant works have not been done for the socio-economic development as expected by the people of Nepal, the Deputy Prime Minister said that in the future, all political parties would work together to develop the country.

The festival was organised in Dolakha, where the economic activities have been slowed for a few years, to make the district economically vibrant.
