Regrettably, the country is grappling with various anomalies at this time. Countless social and political abnormalities have come to the fore. Corruption and high taxes have made the situation worse. Inflation has grown widespread. With the slowing down of social services and infrastructure development, the country’s economy has deteriorated. And with that quality of living has also dropped to a less desirable level. From poor access to health services to inadequate water supply and deteriorated road conditions, the country is facing many more slews where political instability remains on top.
In this scenario, it is crucial to evolve on behalf of technology overcoming all the hindrances. At this point, everybody is clear about how former leaders changed the country especially when it comes to politics. Giving the hope of potential and promises they just abused the authority, and haven’t been accountable for their actions yet. New views, new ideas and perceptions, and stronger shoulders are much needed in each and every sector in order to reorganise the country in a better way. Youths with realistic and practical knowledge are much more desirable.
However, in the long run, having some young people as new faces of change is heart-warming. A line of hope has been reset. Young change-makers and activists are refusing to wait until the situation gets nasty. They are already in action. This consoles the nation that, we have our own voices as a shield. We have an opportunity to empower and make a difference. But this isn’t enough. We need more youths in public participation and politics. We need youth to represent the country at every level.
Yet, in this hard time when a country needs the meaningful participation of young people to achieve its targets, the number of Nepali youths going for foreign employment has been on the rise. One of the major reasons for leaving has been the shrinking employment opportunities at home. With the increase in demands of Nepali workers abroad, taking labour permits and flying for foreign jobs has been on top. The youths are the building chains with the possibility of bringing social reforms and are the only possible paths for the development.
But the country is losing a great asset. Not just for employment, but the number of students flying overseas with the hope of getting quality education has also increased. If this trend remains continued, then the future of the country is predictably dark. Instant actions of the particular authorities need to be taken in this regard. Youths need to be empowered. It is necessary to convince youths that they have all the resources to explore their career within the country. Appropriate platforms need to be provided to experience and learn decision-making skills.
The faulty learning system is also the root cause of the problem. Establishing an improvised learning system can only give rise to a healthy mindset and break this monopoly. We are guided by the belief that going abroad and earning money is the only favourable option to achieve success. This mentality needs to be changed. Also, the government needs to take strong initiative towards creating a suitable environment for youths to hold a hopeful vision and make youths realise their potential in order to break the trend of youths flying abroad and utilise youths in the policy-making of the country.
