Home Minister instructs police to deliver best

Kathmandu, Dec. 30: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Rabi Lamichhane instructed the police personnel to deliver best as per responsibilities. 

Inspecting the Police Headquarters at Naxal in Kathmandu on Friday, Minister Lamichhane said that his Ministry was always ready in creating and facilitating an enabling environment to elevate the morale of police personnel so as to render citizen-oriented police services.

Minister Lamichhane directed them to implement the policy of zero-tolerance against corruption to end impunity and ensure general people's easy access to police services. He also instructed Nepal Police to put in place a special action plan to eradicate hooliganism, tax evasion in custom point, smuggling and irregularities as well as the sales and distribution of narcotic drugs. 

The newly appointed Minister urged the police institution to deliver without anyone's pressure and influence while enforcing law. 

The Minister was welcomed by IGP Dheeraj Pratap Singh, and senior police officials. During the inspection, he visited Polygraph Department and Data Centre run by Nepal Police and took stock of the activities undertaken by these departments.

On the occasion, Lamichhane unveiled two reports prepared by the Nepal Police's Investigation, Planning and Development Directorate.

The Minister also virtually addressed Chiefs of police offices in all seven provinces, chiefs of traffic management offices and police chiefs in all 77 districts.

He commended the Nepal Police for being at the disposal of general public round-the-clock and in any difficult situations. He also lauded the Nepal Police for maintaining internal peace, law and order and in combating crimes. 

The Minister expressed his deep honour to those police personnel, retired and in service, who helped build the police organization and contributed in making the police organization's image grand. 

He pledged to prioritize development of organization and expansion of Nepal Police and growth of the police staffs. Also, he reaffirmed his commitment from the side of his Ministry to build physical infrastructures for the police office based on the need. 

He underscored the need to strengthen the Nepal Police to tackle challenges of crime investigation originated from the misuse of technologies. 

IGP Singh briefed Minister Lamichhane that the Nepal Police was committed towards implementing the Ministry's directives. He shared that the promotion, transfer of police staffs were undertaken in a transparent manner- as based on their performances as per the policy of the institution.  (RSS)
