Dhirendra Prasad Sah, Rajbiraj, Apr. 6: The evaluation of answer sheets for English and Nepali subjects under the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) in Saptari district has now been completed. The examination of English and Nepali was held on April 3 and 4, respectively.
The checking of answer sheets was completed within two days. The Education Development and Coordination Unit, Saptari, has stated that the work of collecting the mark slips of the examinees from the examination centres is underway as soon as the answer sheet verification is completed.
The collected mark slips will be sent to the National Examination Board, Office of the Controller of Examinations, Sanothimi, Bhaktapur, by April 7, informed Shashi Yadav, Chief of the Education Development and Coordination Unit, Saptari.
He further informed that two to four examiners/reviewers have been assigned to check and verify the answer sheets based on the number of students at each examination centre. According to him, arrangements have been made for at least one examiner to check the answer sheets and another examiner to recheck them.
He informed that to make the process transparent, systematic and reliable, CCTV surveillance has been installed at most centres, while strict surveillance by security personnel has been maintained at places where CCTV is not available. He also said that the use of mobile phones by examiners and reviewers has been completely banned during the answer sheets checking period.
Bishwanath Bhadeshwar Yadav, the superintendent of Janata Secondary School, Saptari, said that the work was completed as per the new system, which requires the examination of answer sheets at the examination centre within three days of the completion of the examination of each subject.
He informed that checking of answer sheets of English and Nepali has been completed, sealed along with the mark slips and submitted to the Education Development and Coordination Unit.
After receiving the mark slip, the Education Development and Coordination Unit will send the mark slip to the National Examination Board, Office of the Controller of Examinations, Sanothimi, Bhaktapur, within the specified time limit.
This is the first time that the answer sheets of SEE are being checked at the examination centre or district. Earlier, the answer sheets were collected by the National Examination Board, coded, and sent to different districts for examination.
The Education Development and Coordination Unit has stated that students from 162 schools, both community and institutional, participated in the SEE through 39 examination centres in the district.
A total of 9276 students from the district had filled out the form for the SEE. Unit Chief Yadav said that on average, about 9000 are participating in the examination daily, and based on this, about 18000 answer sheets of English and Nepali subjects have been examined.
He said that a total of 1,351 human resources, including 39 superintendents, 43 superintendents, 446 invigilators, 75 examination assistants, 163 office assistants, and 585 security personnel, have been mobilised to make the examination dignified, fair, and organised.
