Kathmandu, April 5: Dol Prasad Aryal, Vice Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), who has been unanimously elected as the tenth Speaker of the House of Representatives today, was born on 6 Bhadra 2031 BS (22 August 1974) in Jwalamukhi Rural Municipality, Dhading.
He was elected a member of the HoR from Kathmandu constituency no. 9 in the HOR Member election held on March 5. Aryal, who forayed into an alternative political force through continuous struggle, has also served as the Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security.
The newly elected Speaker Aryal has studied, conducted research, worked, and run businesses in various countries including Japan.
Holding the belief that success in business and work is possible in the homeland, he has been active in the fields of tourism, education, and finance for the past 25 years. Aryal, who has advanced business and politics together, played an important role in the establishment of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) in 2023. He is the founding vice-president of the RSP.
During the previous term of Parliament, while serving as the Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security, he made significant contributions to protecting workers' rights, procedural reforms in the foreign employment sector, and social security.
In today's meeting of the House of Representatives, senior member Arjun Narsingh KC announced that Aryal has been elected as the Speaker unopposed.
Aryal has been elected unopposed for the post of Speaker of the House of Representatives after no candidates were nominated from other parties. In the 275-member House of Representatives, the Rastriya Swatantra Party has 182 MPs.
For the Head of the Parliament Aryal, has the role to conduct the parliament in a balanced manner while making laws, monitoring government activities, as well as ending political polarization and party differences.
He will also have to negotiate the works of managing bills and proposals on time, ensuring active participation of MPs and enforcing compliance with rules.
The Speaker is expected to make impartial decisions rising above party pressure and personal political interests, which has become a high expectation from the public and his responsibility.(RSS)
