Kathmandu, April 5: President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Rabi Lamichhane, has expressed his confidence that newly elected Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR), Dol Prasad Aryal, will play a significant role in strengthening parliamentary practices by making the Lower House of the Federal Parliament more effective, swift and result-oriented.

Congratulating Speaker Aryal on his election, Lamichhane said he believed that the Speaker would discharge his responsibilities in an impartial, balanced and accountable manner while upholding the dignity, decorum and effectiveness of Parliament.

He commended Aryal’s vision of building Parliament into an effective, accountable and people-oriented institution through cooperation and coordination with all political parties and lawmakers.

Highlighting Aryal’s political conduct, Lamichhane noted that he had demonstrated high ethical standards and institutional commitment by stepping away from party responsibilities following his candidacy, in line with the parliamentary tradition of maintaining the Speaker as a neutral and shared figure.

“On this historic occasion, I am confident that he will deliver a successful and exemplary tenure by upholding impartiality, transparency, the rule of law and institutional dignity,” Lamichhane said.

On the occasion, Lamichhane also extended thankfulness to Arjun Narshing K.C. for effectively advancing the House's proceedings during the initial phase while presiding over the meetings of the HoR in his capacity as the senior-most member.
