by Amarraj Naharki,Tanahun, Apr. 6: Schools in Aanbukhaireni Rural Municipality of Tanahun have intensified preparations for the admission campaign and door-to-door programmes, as the new academic session nears.
To ensure that no child within the rural municipality is deprived of school enrollment, the schools have started reaching out to the villages and identifying students.
Meanwhile, Kanyadevi Secondary School in Aanbukhaireni Rural Municipality-6 has started a door-to-door campaign to interact with parents before the formal admission campaign begins.
According to the school's principal, Suryaman Gurung, teachers and representatives of the management committee are reaching every door to collect accurate information regarding school-age children who are out of school. Principal Gurung said, "We are creating an environment to identify children in time and bring them to school, so that they can participate in regular classes from the first week of the new academic session."
This initiative is aimed at bringing children from remote and marginalised communities of the rural municipality within the reach of schools. Principal Gurung says that during the door-to-door visits, parents are being informed about the importance of education, the facilities and scholarships provided by the school. According to him, in order to reduce the drop-out rate and ensure 100 per cent enrollment, additional plans for student enrollment and sustainable campaigns will be made in the coming days based on the data collected from the door-to-door programme.
