257 new cases, 232 recoveries in 24 hours

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Aug. 30: With 257 new cases (RT-PCR and antigen tests combined) of COVID-19 confirmed on Tuesday, the nation's novel coronavirus tally has reached 997,122.

In 1,458 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the past 24 hours, a total of 143 people were found infected with SARS-CoV-2, informed the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) in its regular update on Tuesday.

Likewise, the virus infection was detected in 114 people in 2,463 antigen tests performed in the last 24 hours.

Currently, there are 3,146 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation of which, 155 are admitted to institutional isolation while 2,991 patients are placed in home isolation. Out of which 40 are in ICU and five are on ventilator support.  

Meanwhile, 232 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours.

Nepal has now recorded 981,976 cases of recovery, and the recovery rate is at 98.5 per cent. 

No fatalities related to COVID-19 were recorded in the last 24 hours, according to the MoHP. So far, Nepals' COVID-19 death toll has reached 12,000.
