Nepal records 12,000 COVID deaths so far, 202 new cases in 24 hours

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Aug. 28: With 202 new cases (RT-PCR and antigen tests combined) of COVID-19 confirmed on Sunday, the nation's novel coronavirus tally has reached 996,834.

In 2,064 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the past 24 hours, a total of 164 people were found infected with SARS-CoV-2, informed the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) in its regular update on Sunday.

Likewise, the virus infection was detected in 38 people in 1,769 antigen tests performed in the last 24 hours.

Currently, there are 3,313 active cases of COVID-19 across the country of which, 162 are admitted to institutional isolation while 3,151 patients are placed in home isolation. Out of which 44 are in ICU and one is on ventilator support.  

Meanwhile, 462  COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours.

Nepal has now recorded 981,521 cases of recovery, and the recovery rate is at 98.5 per cent. 

One fatality related to COVID-19 was recorded in the last 24 hours, according to the MoHP. With this, Nepal's COVID-19 death toll has reached 12,000.
