Landslide blocks Pasang Lhamu Highway

By Our Correspondent, Rasuwa, Aug. 12: Dhunche-Kathmandu road section along Pasang Lhamu Highway has come to a complete halt after a landslide on Tuesday hit Betrawati Kalikasthan.

Nearly 50 metres of the road has been washed away by the landslide in Uttargaya Rural Municipality-5, Banuwa.

The incident happened following incessant rain on Tuesday night. Senior Deputy Police Inspector Kashi Ram Budha of the Area Police Office said that it would take some days to bring the road into operation.

Similarly, a huge landslide has fallen along Betrawati-Mailung Syaphrubeshi road section of the district. With these two big landslides, connectivity with the Nepal-China trade route up to Rasuwagadhi has been severed. People’s mobility has also come to a complete halt, disconnecting life from the district headquarters Dhunche.

Chief District Officer Navaraj Jainsi said that the administration has been making efforts to open alternative routes by clearing the debris.
