1,293 killed in road mishap in three years in Lumbini province

By Laxman Paudel, Bhairahawa, July 26: As many as 1,000 people have lost their lives in the last three years in Lumbini province. 

According to police, the trend of the death toll from accidents is in an increasing pattern. A total of 1,293 people have lost their lives in the past three years across the province. 

As per the data of the Lumbini Province Traffic Police Office, 483, 527 and 551 people lost their lives in the fiscal year 2076/077, 2077/078 and 2078/079 respectively.  

During the three years, 3,498 road accidents have been recorded. The spokesperson at the Traffic police Office Butwal Mohan Bahadur Khand said that of the 3,498 road accidents 1,293 were killed, 3,260 were seriously injured and 1,934 were normal injured." 

Out of 12 districts of the province, the highest number of people killed in road accidents was in Rupandehi. 359 people have lost their life in Rupandehi in the last three years.
