Hetauda, July 23: Election is being held today under the ninth general convention of the Nepal Press Union for new leadership. A process to elect a new leader has begun.
According to the Election Officer, Prabin Humagain,
the process to elect the new leadership started this afternoon. There
is a total of 1,679 voters.
A total of 169 candidates are contesting the
election for the 120-member new committee. Assistant Election Officer, Krishna
Prasad Neupane, said although voting was said to start from 11:00 am today, it
was delayed as it took time to print ballot paper, publish the name list of
candidates and make arrangements for the deputation of election staff.
The voting will take place till 6:30 pm, it is
said.
Meanwhile, a total of 31 candidates including three
RSS journalists have been elected unopposed. (RSS)
