Kathmandu, May 10: The Nageshwor Mahadev Temple, based in Gothatar of Kageshwori Manohara Municipality-9, reported a theft on Saturday night. According to the temple conservation and management committee, a (donation) box used for the collection of monetary offerings was stolen from the temple premises.
The temple's priest noticed the missing of the collection box this morning. The box had reportedly not been opened since the Mahashivaratri festival which was observed on February 15.
It is estimated that the donations collected in the box amounted to between Rs 800 thousands to one million. A police beat previously set up for the temple's security was removed in the aftermath of Gen Z movement held on September 8-9, 2025.
Earlier, the temple of Lord Shiva, originally located at Gaucharan of the Pashupati area, was relocated to Gothatar during the expansion of the Tribhuvan International Airport. (RSS)
