Aftermath Of SEE

blog

Every year, thousands of students across Nepal appear for the Secondary Education Examination (SEE). After the examination, these students step into a strange place away from exam routines, yet not ready to move forward. For many students, this period is filled with anxiety and endless speculations about the result. A sense of uncertainty may linger around them, causing them stress and anxiety. But this vacation doesn’t have to be defined by stress. It can be one of the most meaningful and refreshing phases of a student’s life.

It is important to realise that worrying about the results does nothing. The examinations are already over, and the efforts have already been made. The results remain beyond anyone’s control. Constantly replaying the answers in your head or trying to calculate the marks you might get on the examination will only disrupt your peace of mind. Results do matter, but they do not define your worth or your entire future. There are countless examples of people who have taken unexpected paths and achieved tremendous success in their lives. This proves that a single examination cannot measure one’s true potential.

Instead of stressing over the results, it is better to utilise something valuable that this break offers - Time. Yes, time is something that students rarely get during their academic sessions. Free from 6 am to 6 pm classes, endless assignments and weekly examinations, this time period allows the students to rest, relax and reset their lives.

After months of study pressure, students’ minds deserve some relaxation. Instead of doing nothing, this time can be taken to pursue a new hobby, spend quality time with family and friends, watch movies, read books, or learn something new. Sometimes, resting is not laziness but is required for growth.

Being productive is helpful. Productivity doesn’t mean overworking or jumping straight into the upcoming academic race immediately. The students can learn new skills like computer skills, or even cooking, crocheting. Volunteering or helping out with household chores can also be helpful and be deemed productive.

This time period is great for self-discovery. The students can figure out what they truly enjoy and where their interests lie. It is important to consider one’s own curiosity about a subject matter rather than leaning towards societal expectations. Chances are that people will want the students with good grades to study science, but can a person truly be happy trying to please society? The students have time in this vacation to discover their subjects of interest, whether it be science, management or humanities.

It is equally important for students to maintain their mental well-being. Students should talk with their friends and share their thoughts with each other. It is important that students do not become isolated due to fear of results. Since every student is in the same position, supporting each other makes it easier for everyone. It is crucial to remember that grades are not everything, and students should exhibit more confidence in themselves.

To all the SEE students of Nepal, you guys have completed a huge milestone in your academic ladder. Best wishes to everyone for your upcoming journey.
