RSS DGM Lamichhane retires

Kathmandu, April 15: The Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) bade farewell to outgoing Deputy General Manager Somnath Lamichhane on Wednesday.     

Lamichhane had joined RSS as an officer level reporter on March 15, 1995. He retired on age limit, 58, on April 3, 2026. Outgoing DGM Lamichhane served at various posts including chief of then zonal office and district office, chief of international desk and chief of administration section. He also involved in reporting and Nepali news editing.     

RSS office organized a programme and bade farewell to him at central office, Bhadrakali Plaza, Kathmandu on Wednesday.     

General Manager Sandip Rai appreciated the role outgoing DGM Lamichhane played in an honest manner. Lamichhane's work and experience spanned traditional to modern news service, Rai observed. He further reminded that Lamichhane had joined RSS at a difficult moment of journalism and expressed belief that he would remain further active in the days ahead.     

Similarly, Lamichhane informed that he had contributed to transforming RSS news service to online system and strengthening RSS in infrastructural and financial realms. He suggested continuing diversification of news service and ensuring competitiveness.     

RSS has huge potential, Lamichhane stressed.     

 "It was a significant role the outgoing senior most official played in policy making and reform in news at RSS," said Chief Editor and Chief of Administration, Shital Mahato.     

Chief Reporter Yekraj Pathak remembered the roles Lamichhane played in development of infrastructures, administration and workforce development and news service.     

Editorial assistant Tiwari bid farewell     

Similarly, editorial assistant at Nepali desk, Ruchila Tiwari, was bid farewell at the same function on Wednesday. Tiwari, who worked for 15 years at RSS opted for a voluntary retirement. She had joined RSS since July 1, 2010.     

Tiwari said she had worked honestly during her service at RSS. She wished further progress to RSS.     

GM Rai, Chief Editor Mahato and others remembered Tiwari's dedication to work.
