By TRN Online, Kathmadnu, April 3: Minister for Communication and Information Technology Dr Bikram Timilsina has congratulated Radio Nepal, Nepal's first broadcast medium, on its 76th birth anniversary.
Saying that Radio Nepal, which was established in the Nepali year 2007, Chaitra 20, has passed through a long history, and turned into the Public Service Broadcast, the Minister said that Radio Nepal has been playing a significant role in national unity, disaster management, and the campaign for prosperity.
He expressed the view that Radio Nepal's contribution to citizen-centric service delivery is commendable.
In his congratulatory message, he mentioned that efforts are ongoing to expand transmission capacity and provide access to all parts of the country through terrestrial and surface technology to provide effective and quality services to the citizens.
The Communication Minister said that the government is implementing 100 agendas of governance reforms as per the mandate received from the recently concluded general elections.
He expressed confidence that Radio Nepal will broadcast these issues with priority
Minister Timilsina said, "The role and accountability of the Radio Nepal has increased following its transmission to Public Service Broadcast. There is a need to stress more for upgrading in quality, factual and citizen central news production."
Lastly, he congratulated all the listeners, well-wisheres and employees and wished for the continued progress of the organization.
