Dhorpatan (Baglung), Jan 24: The required number of applications for election police has not been received despite extending the deadline thrice.
For the March 5 parliamentary elections in the district, a total of 1,487 personnel were requested, including 1,298 from the Nepal Police and 189 from the Armed Police Force.
However, only 1,051 applications have been so far received, with 1,048 from the Nepal Police and three from the Armed Police Force, according to Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office Baglung, Tilak Bharati.
As of today, 823 men and 228 women have submitted applications, he informed.
Applications were initially sought during the period from January 8-15. As insufficient applications were received during the period, the deadline was extended by two more days for January 16-17, SP Bharati said.
He shared that an additional 436 applicants are still needed to meet the required number. As the required applications have not been received, the deadline has been extended third time until Sunday.
To facilitate applicants, applications can also be submitted at the District Police Office Baglung as well as in the Area Police Offices Burtibang and Galkot. (RSS)
