Five nabbed in Damak over intoxicated disorder

By Bishnu Prasad Pokharel, Damak, April 3: Police have taken five individuals into custody in Damak on charges of creating disturbances at night under the influence of alcohol and drugs, and engaging in other unwanted activities.

According to Khagendra Bahadur Khadka, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Jhapa, the arrests were made during a sweep operation conducted in Damak on Thursday evening. 

Police have intensified night patrols in the Damak area in recent days.

As per the incident details, the five individuals were arrested together from Damak Municipality-6, where they had allegedly gathered unnecessarily, consumed alcohol, created a public disturbance, and were involved in drug use.

The suspects are currently being held at the Area Police Office, Damak, where further investigation is underway, according to Khadka.

In a separate incident, police also arrested one person on Thursday following complaints of irregularities involving middlemen at the Mechi Transport Management Office in Jhapa.

A joint team of police personnel in plainclothes deployed from the Area Police Office, Birtamod, and the Koshi Province Police Office, Biratnagar, conducted a raid at the office premises and arrested 30-year-old Lal Bahadur Bista, a resident of Gauradaha-9.

According to the District Police Office, Jhapa, Bista is currently being held at the Area Police Office, Birtamod, for further investigation.
