By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Jan. 14: The Nepali national men’s cricket team will play practice series in two phases ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup, which will be staged in India and Sri Lanka.
The Cricket Association of Nepal announced the warm-up schedule on Tuesday. After completing two closed training camps at home, the squad will travel to Sri Lanka for the first phase of practice matches.
Nepal will face the Sri Lanka ‘A’ side in three T20 fixtures, scheduled for 20, 22 and 24 January, with practice sessions set for 19, 21 and 23 January.
Following the Sri Lanka tour, Nepal will head to India, where they are scheduled to play two T20 practice matches against the Mumbai Cricket Association’s MCA President’s XI.
The first will be a day game on 29 January, followed by a day/night encounter on 31 January at the CCI ground. The team will train on 27 and 28 January in Mumbai.
The T20 World Cup begins jointly in India and Sri Lanka on 7 February. Nepal will open their campaign against England on 8 February. They are grouped with England, West Indies, Bangladesh and Italy, with all group matches to be played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
