Deep Shrestha to perform at ‘BookHill Ballads’

By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, June 4: Renowned singer and composer Deep Shrestha is set to perform some of the most memorable songs of his musical career at BookHill Ballads, a new musical series launched by BookHill Publication. 

The first edition of the programme, titled, “BookHill Ballads: Deep Shrestha-Ma Pattharko Devata Hoina”, will be held on June 12 at Shilpee Theatre in Kathmandu. 

According to BookHill, Shrestha will perform a selection of popular songs spanning his musical journey from 2025 B.S. to present, while also sharing stories of the highs and lows of his musical journey. 

Widely recognised as a “living legend” of Nepali music, Shrestha entered the Nepali music scene with the song Ma Pattharko Devata Hoina. Over nearly six decades, he has lent his voice to and composed thousands of songs.

Many of his songs have become timeless classics, including Ma Pattharko Devata Hoina, Hu Yatri, Kati Kamjor Rahechha Bhagya, Bhantheen Meri Uni, Jhaskiyechha Man Mero, Biteka Kuraale, Har Raat Sapani Ma, Ma Ta Durdekhi Aayen and Jhirma Uninu Euta Kura.

During the event, Shrestha will be accompanied by seven instrumentalists, with performances interwoven with stories behind the songs.

BookHill stated that the initiative aims to promote music and culture, alongside literature, and plans to organise BookHill Ballads every three months.

BookHill Chairperson Bhupendra Khadka said the programme seeks to present musicians and vocalists to audiences in a distinctive format,
