By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, June 4: The Nepali folk-rock band Nepathya has performed in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, marking the band’s first-ever concert in the country during its three-and-a-half-decades musical journey.
According to a press release issued by Nepalaya, the concert began at 7 PM on Sunday at Jep Hall in the popular tourist hub of Bukit Bintang, opening with the iconic song Koshiko Pani.
Throughout the evening, Nepathya captivated the audience with one song after another, while lead singer Amrit Gurung engaged with attendees and shared messages of patriotism, the statement added.
Speaking during the performance, Gurung said that his travels across Nepal to collect songs had allowed him to understand the country more closely. He encouraged Nepalis living abroad to visit those places when they return home.
Malaysia, which has remained a major destination for Nepali migrant workers in recent years, continues to see an increasing number of Nepali workers.
For Nepathya, Malaysia became the 20th country and Kuala Lumpur the 58th international city where the band has performed.
Mudita Bajracharya, Deputy Chief of Mission (Chargé d’Affaires) at the Nepali Embassy in Malaysia, was also present at the event.
“I am very happy to experience Nepathya in Kuala Lumpur,” she said.
“While enjoying the concert, the power of our unique words and melodies repeatedly reminded me of old memories, while also allowing me to experience the joy of diversity,” she added.
