Kathmandu, Jan 5: The Ministry of Home Affairs has urged one and all not to engage in activities that undermine social harmony and dignity, by making hateful and misleading statements public through social media.
Issuing a press statement on today, the Ministry has warned against any incidents that disrupt public law and order.
The Ministry has clarified that the process of taking action individuals and groups who misuse social media to engage in illegal activities targeting certain communities and religions, disrupt social harmony, display unruly behavior, and spread violence and social hatred such as vandalism, arson, and robbery at religious places is underway.
“Hate speech that disrupt cordial relations between different castes, religions, and sects, incite people to commit crimes, and are contrary to public conduct or morality are punishable offenses,” the Home Ministry has said in the statement.
The ministry has also urged all to exercise restraint and vigilance to maintain peace, security, and religious tolerance in the society.(RSS)
