Ballot papers for PR in HoR poll to have 58 symbols

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Jan 2: The ballot papers for the proportional electoral system in the election to the House of Representatives (HoR) to be held on March 5 will have 58 election symbols.

Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, spokesperson of the Election Commission, said at a press meet on Friday that of the political parties which have submitted closed list, 54 will compete with their own electoral symbols while the remaining 10 parties will use four separate symbols under different clusters, in line with their closed list.

He said although 93 political parties had registered their names to participate in the PR system, only 64 submitted the closed list of the candidates.

Similarly, 40 organisations have been permitted to observe the HoR poll.

The EC is yet to make public the final list of the closed list submitted by the parties.
