By Purushottam Subedi, Nawalparasi (West), Dec 31: Traffic has become very difficult in the Daunne section of Nawalparasi under the Narayangadh-Butwal road construction project.
Travel has become risky on the under-construction road as the road surface has become extremely slippery due to the cold wave that has been prevailing for the past few days.
According to the Project Directorate (Western Division) under the Department of Roads, construction of a paved slope and culvert is currently underway in the area.
The weather turned extreme while construction work was underway, making the road muddy and slippery.
Due to slippery roads, there has been an increase in the number of trucks, buses, and small private vehicles slipping on uphill slopes, getting stuck in the mud, and breaking down.
This has led to long traffic jams in the Daunne hills, causing inconvenience to commuters.
Considering the increasing risk, the project office has issued a notice asking non-essential vehicles to use alternative roads as much as possible.
It has urged to exercise extreme caution and fully comply with traffic rules if travelling is a must, reads the notice.
