Conference held to promote intangible culture from mountains

Kathmandu, Dec 23: A special conference has been organized aiming to promote the creative productions relating to intangible culture of the mountain regions in the federal capital.     

The event organized by the Araniko Society held discussions on the promotion of the intangible cultural heritage of Nepal’s Himalayan region and China’s Xizang (Tibet) Autonomous Region, enhancement of cultural exchange, and further strengthening of people-to-people ties between the two countries.     

On the occasion, former minister and President of the Nepal Olympic Committee, Jeevan Ram Shrestha, expressed his hope that such events help deepen cultural and grassroots-level relations between two close neighbours: Nepal and China.     

Similarly, President of the Federation of Handicraft Associations of Nepal, Rabindra Shakya, said they have been effortful for globalizing handicraft products made in Nepal.     

According to Araniko Society President Sushil Prajapati, the objective of the conference is to conserve and promote cultural heritage.     

Information about identity, varities, and distinctive features of intangible cultural heritage from the Himalayan region was shared among the participants.(RSS)
