By Netra Shahi, Jumla, Dec 14: A one-day exhibition of indigenous cuisine prepared from native crops of Jumla has concluded.
The agricultural biodiversity and food exhibition fair highlighted the dishes made from indigenous foods.
The fair, organized on the premises of the District Sports Development Committee, was inaugurated by the Chief of the District Coordination Committee, Gaurinandan Acharya, by making a Sel Roti from local organic flour.
According to Acharya, ‘’Indigenous crops are in extinction condition at present. Residents are consuming food grains mixed with pesticides which come from outside. This exhibition may encourage farmers to produce indigenous organic crops.’’
He said that the exhibition would contribute to generating milieu where farmers take the local government seeking markets, and traders take the manufacture to the market.
Deuda competition was also held by the group of local women during the indigenous food exhibition. Messages were given through the Deuda songs regarding indigenous dishes, nutritious and organic food.
