Kathmandu, Nov.4: A Photo exhibition titled “A Tale of Two Lands: Nepal Meets Sicily” was inaugurated amid a special function held at Nepal Tourism Board’s premises in Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu today.
The exhibition was inaugurated by senior photojournalist Gopal Chitrakar, as the chief guest. Also present on the occasion were Hikmat Singh Ayer, Officiating Chief Executive Officer of the Nepal Tourism Board(NTB), and Dwarika Kafle, President of the Photo Journalists Club.
Speaking at the event, Sudhan Subedi, Senior Officer at NTB and Coordinator of the #photoNepal campaign, informed that “#photoNepal is a visual campaign initiated in 2016 with the aim of showcasing Nepal’s diverse cultural, natural, and human beauty to the world through the medium of photography.”
Chief guest Gopal Chitrakar expressed his delight, saying that he was happy to see the Nepal Tourism Board promoting photography as a form of cultural diplomacy for the country.
Similarly, Photo Journalists Club President Dwarika Kafle remarked, “Such exhibitions provide greater energy and inspiration to the creative efforts of photographers.”
Likewise, Officiating CEO of NTB Hikmat Singh Ayer stated that “such initiatives serve as effective platforms to present Nepal’s cultural and religious diversity in the international context, and the Board is committed to collaborating with photographers in similar campaigns.”
Italian photographer Valentina Brancaforte expressed that she has developed a deep connection with Nepal and described Nepal as “a paradise for photography.” The exhibition features 25 of her photographs reflecting the diverse cultural and scenic beauty of Nepal and Italy. The collection is open for free public viewing at the Nepal Tourism Board premises, Bhrikutimandap, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The ‘A Tale of Two Lands’ exhibition aims to highlight the cultural and spiritual parallels between Nepal and Sicily through photography. Depicting the power of faith, cultural vibrancy, and the beauty of communal celebrations through visual storytelling, it underscores the shared human connections between the two lands.
Nepal Tourism Board warmly invites all art enthusiasts, photographers, media personnel, and the general public to visit and experience the exhibition.
