Nepalgunj, Oct. 28: Senior folk singer Kamal B.K. Nirmohi, who has been bedridden after both his kidneys failed, has received Rs. 171,211 as financial support for his treatment.
Of the total amount, Rs. 106,211 was collected through a cultural programme organised by Baas Nepal in Nepalgunj on October 21, while an additional Rs. 65,000 was raised in Surkhet by senior folk lyricist, instrumentalist and theatre artist Triratna Prem Dev Giri.
The cheque was handed over to Nirmohi’s wife, Heram Devi B.K., by Namaskar Shah, Executive Director of Baas Nepal and former central member of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Krishna Prasad Shrestha, among others.
Speaking after receiving the cheque, Heram Devi B.K. said that the support raised by Baas Nepal had given her family new hope. She expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed and helped lead the initiative.
On the occasion, Shrestha, also a member of the Kamal B.K. Nirmohi Treatment Support Committee appealed to all to join the campaign and contribute further, wishing for the artist’s speedy recovery.
Baas Nepal’s Executive Director and coordinator of the Treatment Support Committee, Namaskar Shah, shared details about the programme and the collected funds.
The handover event was attended by former deputy mayor of Nepalgunj Sub-metropolitan City Uma Thapa Magar, senior artists Sundar Gurung and Jit Bahadur Thapa, journalist Shukrarishi Chaulagai and Baas Nepal’s central member Basanti Rokaya.
Similarly, on Sunday, Triratna Prem Dev Giri personally travelled from Surkhet to Nepalgunj to hand over the Rs. 65,000 support amount to Nirmohi. He stressed the need to make every possible effort to protect and support the nation’s treasured artists.
Likewise, writers and artists from Kohalpur and Bardiya have also collected around Rs. 60,000 and handed it over to Nirmohi.
