Export of agricultural products from Parbat surpasses Rs 650 million

Parbat, Oct 24: Parbat is making strides towards self-reliant in food grains and vegetables, with agricultural product exports generating over Rs 650 million. By focusing on six key crops, the agricultural sector achieved a business turnover of Rs 653,047,000 in the fiscal year 2081/082 BS.

As reported by the Parbat Agricultural Knowledge Centre, farmers in the district earned this amount through the sale of potatoes, rice, cardamom, vegetables, maize, and citrus fruits. In Parbat, potatoes and oranges are the primary exports, while paddy, seasonal and off-season vegetables, cardamom, and maize are cultivated for both seeds and sale.

ParshuramAdhikari, Chief of the Agriculture Knowledge Centre, noted that the district produced 72,950 metric tons of food grains in the last fiscal year, with maize production at 33,120 metric tons and wheat at 5,220 metric tons. Likewise, barley production reached 54 metric tons, buckwheat 100 metric tons, millet 7,850 metric tons, and pulses 527 metric tons. The district also produced 362 metric tons of oilseeds, 20,330 metric tons of potatoes, 12,610 metric tons of vegetables, and 1,015 metric tons of oranges, according to the Agriculture Knowledge Centre, Parbat. 

The office reported that last fiscal year, Parbat produced 13,307 metric tons of fruits, including oranges. The revenue generated from potatoes was Rs 77.3 million, seeds and vegetables Rs 111 million, oranges  Rs 248.4 million, honey from honeybees Rs 45 million, and cardamom Rs 18.1 million. The centre also highlighted that significant quantities of rice, millet, and maize were exported. (RSS)
