Kathmandu, Oct. 20: The special poetry symposium titled ‘A Voice in the Void After the Explosion’ (Visphoṭapachiko Shūnyatāmā Āwāj) was held in the capital, jointly organised by Bartaman Kabita Samuha and Araniko Natyashala.
The symposium, moderated by poet Rami Priya, was centred around the uncertainty regarding the country's future direction, the dreams of the youths martyred during the Gen Z movement, and a warning against the prevalent tendency to exploit transformation for personal gain.
Poet Ramgopal Ashutosh recited his poem Aphno Umerko Ādhā Samaya Nakateko Samayasita (With the Time That Hasn't Crossed Half My Age), a piece that served as a confluence of love, politics, and conflict. Poet Rajani Mila presented Āmā Na Timī Swatantra Thiyau Na Ma Swatantra Chu (Mother, Neither Were You Free, Nor Am I Free), a beautiful piece that gave voice to the essence of existence. Poet Bina Nemkul recited Dwandwa
(Conflict), which explored the struggle between the mind and the intellect.
Poet Bishwa Sigdel's Junkirī ra Āgoko Kissā (The Tale of the Firefly and the Fire) was a deep allegorical resistance work, warning of individual and collective destruction through the collision of arrogance, despair, and social sensitivity.
Poet Kamalraj K.C. recited Prashna Āphainsanga (A Question to Myself), which addressed the profound contribution of the martyrs.
Poet Devaki Timalsina shared Umārnu Chha Dubo (We Must Grow the Bermuda Grass), depicting the emotional state of the martyrs' families. Poet Suresh Gaunle read Gharasangai Bhatkeko Man (The Heart That Collapsed Along With the House) while Radhika Kalpit recited Ke Malāī Timī Binā Bāchne Bānī Parlā (Will I Get Used to Living Without You?), which also captured the grief and psychological state of the martyrs’ families.
Sanjay Suman presented Nāṭak Bhitra Arko Nāṭak Kina? (Why Another Play Within the Play?). Likewise, Shriram Dahal’s poem, Timī ra Ma (You and I), offered a deep social-philosophical reflection on moral decay.
Moreover, Shailendra Prasad Sigdel Kanchan GR, Roma Lamsal, MP Pande, Dhruv Gajurel and Gajendra Bohora also presented their poems.
On this occasion, Bishwa Sigdel, the representative of the Group, informed attendees that the group has been organising such events and pledged that this endeavor would continue in the coming days.
