Kathmandu, Oct 19: A total of seven athletes from Nepal are gearing up to participate in five distinct sports at the upcoming third Asian 'Youth Games'. The event is scheduled to take place in Bahrain from October 22 to 31. Sabina Shrestha will take to the badminton court, Ruven Thapa will compete in golf, Samita Nepali will showcase her skills in judo, while Palesha Kakshapati and Genji Rai will represent Nepal in Muay Thai. Additionally, Atharva Singh and Arya Maharjan will swim for the nation.
Among the official representatives of the team are Tilak Pandey (badminton), Dhruvbabu Thapa (golf), Devkimaya Shrestha (judo), Bhupesh Shakya (Muay Thai), and Nayana Shakya (swimming). The athletes received a warm farewell today during a ceremony organized by Secretary-General of the National Sports Council (NSC) Tank Lal Ghising, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and NSC member Ramcharitra Mehata, NSC Executive Committee member KamL Bahadur Bhattarai, and Director of the National Team Preparation Committee Deepak Bisht, among others. The Muay Thai team is set to depart for Bahrain tomorrow. (RSS)
