Kathmandu, Oct 17: A researcher Roshan Kumar Jha has brought a book 'Nepal Mandalsanga Jodiyeko Simraungadhko Itihas'. It was released amidst a programme organized by the Pairavi Book House in the federal capital on Friday.

The book is focused on the ties the historic city, Simraungadh, had with Nepal Mandal. Simraungadh is the eleventh-century town which was an economic, cultural and political civilization. It was once the capital of the Mithila Kingdom.

Chief guest at the programme and Chancellor of Nepal Academy, Bhupal Rai, said time has come to study and conduct a thorough research on history. It is similar in case of the relations between Simraungadh and Nepal Mandal, he said, viewing, "Although the change of government continues, history does not. Like this book, even the relations between Kirat civilization and Nepal Mandal needs serious research."

Chairman of the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), Dharmendra Jha, commented that the book is an instrumental text to make history known to wider circle. The writing of history should be more inclusive, factual and critical so that it encompasses diversity, he stressed.

"We write on history, but the historic places like Simraungadh is still excluded from mainstream of Nepali history. Once history is written genuinely, we can develop a clear understanding on it," Chairman Jha observed.

Director General at Department of Archaeology, Saubhagya Pradhananga, spoke on the archaeological importance of Simraungadh. "The archaeological place is Nepal's identity and we're committed to its preservation," he vowed.

He however said heritages are common property, so it requires collective efforts for preservation.

On the occasion, writer Roshan Kumar Jha said although the issues the book included had huge significance, there is a dearth of deep understanding on these among public.

Various other speakers including Prof Dr Purushottam Lochan Shrestha and historian Dinesh Raj Pant suggested the state bodies that they included the subjects of Simraungadh's ties to Nepal Mandal in the national curriculum and promoted research on it.

Currently, Bara district and vicinity lie in this place. Even a local level is named after this historical town- Simraungadh municipality- an administrative unit in the federal set up of Nepal now. (RSS)
