Minister Kharel urges media to create conducive environment for polls

Kathmandu, Oct 13: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel has urged the media to create an environment conducive to the upcoming elections scheduled for March 5, 2026.     

During a meeting with the editors and representatives from different media outlets at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology on Monday, Minister Kharel called for support from the media sector to hold the elections in time adding that the government was working for full preparations of the elections.     

"Elections will be held on time. I urged the media persons to create a favorable climate for elections. There is no option to the polls to move the country ahead."     

Saying that the government was preparing for polls, the Minister expressed confidence that political parties too were committed to the polls.     

Minister Kharel asked the political parties to act responsibly for building an environment for elections adding that the government will support on managerial parts.     

He added that the major responsibility of the incumbent government was to promote good governance and carry out reconstruction works of the physical infrastructures after successfully conducting the polls.     

On the occasion, he stated that this government formed after the Gen-Z protests has support from the national and international communities.     

The participants at the discussion programme suggested that the government should intensify talks with the political parties to create environment for polls and ensure a rule-based system through polls.(RSS)
