By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Oct. 13: The government has announced a grant of Rs 30 million for the construction of the state-of-the-art ‘Cinepa: Studio’ being built in Banepa.

An agreement was formally signed between Ram Krishna Aryal, Undersecretary at the Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation Division of the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, and Dinesh DC, Chairman of the Film Development Board, on Friday.

‘Cinepa: Studio’ aims to strengthen Nepal’s film industry technically, provide all essential services for filmmakers in one integrated location, and enhance their ability to compete at the international level.

The studio will include advanced film shooting, sound recording, editing, visual effects (VFX), color grading, and post-production facilities.

Chairman Dinesh DC said, “The ‘Cinepa: Studio’ being constructed in the historic city of Banepa, Kavre, will mark a new era for the Nepali film industry. This is not just a studio, it is an investment in the future of Nepali cinema.”

The FDB believed that once completed, the studio would eliminate the need for Nepali filmmakers to go abroad for expensive post-production work. It is also expected to make a significant contribution to film tourism, employment generation, and skill development.

The signing ceremony was attended by ministry officials, along with the Film Development Board’s Account Officer Prabhakar Bhattarai and Planning Officer Girish Sharma.
