President to
parties: Focus on election to safeguard constitution

Ramchandra Paudel has urged the political parties to focus on election as election
is the only option to safeguard the nation, democracy and constitution.
The President
made the appeal at an all-party meeting along with the government called by him
at his office in Shital Niwas.
The election
to the House of Representatives (HoR) has been scheduled for March 5, 2026.
President
Paudel suggested the government to arrange for necessary peace and security for
a fair and fearless environment for election, informed Kiran Pokharel, press
advisor to President Paudel.
The Head of the
State urged the parties not to create any confusion about election but reach
out to the people with commitment that the parties will address the demands of the
Gen Z.
Leaders of the political parties participating
in the meeting responded that they were ready to face election but expressed doubt
that the present security arrangement was enough for a fair and independent
election.
Prime
Minister of the interim government Sushila Karki said that the government was aware
of the fact that no election can be held without the participation of the
political parties and that the government will ensure security arrangement for
a fair and fearless environment for election.
She urged
the political parties to embrace the frustration of the Gen Z as expressed through
movement as that of one’s own children’s dissatisfaction and move ahead to
address their demands.
Government ministers were also present in the meeting along with the PM.
Among the leaders present in the meeting were Purna Bahadur Khadk and Gangan Thapa, vice-president and general secretary respectively of Nepali Congress, Narayan Kaji Shrestha and Barsa Man Pun, vice-chair and secretary respectively of CPN (Maoist Center) and Ishwar Pokharel and Shankar Pokharel, senior vice-chairman and general secretary respectively of CPN (UML).
Similarly, DP Aryal and Bipin Kumar Acharya, acting president and joint general secretary of Rastriya Swatantra Party, Gyanendra Shahi and Mina Lama, spokesperson and central member of Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Rajendra Pande and Ghana Shyam Bhual, vice-chair and general secretary respectively of CPN (Unified Socialist) were also present in the meeting.
Renu Yadav of Janata Samajwadi Party, CK Raut and Dr. Bijaya Kumar Raut from Janamat Party, Gyanendra Jha and Sarvendranath Sukla from Lokatantrik Samajwadi Party, Resham Chaudhari from Nagarik Unamukti Party, Sunil Prajapati from Nepal Workers' and Peasant Party and Bidhyut Bajracharya and Prakash Adhikari of Janata Samajvadi party Nepal also participated in the meeting.
